Our Mission
Whether it is animals or people, our mission is to advocate voice for the voiceless and help drive environmental and social change.
Our Vision
We are dedicated to illuminating untold stories by collaborating with communities, Adivasis, and young adults, capturing their voices through our documentary lens.
Our Goal
Our ultimate goal is to leave a lasting impact on society, raising awareness and sparking action for a better future.
Our Journey
The Foundation
In 1987, we embarked on our journey by founding our production company, laying the groundwork for what would become a global storytelling powerhouse. Since then, our narratives have captivated audiences worldwide.
A New Identity
In 1995, we rebranded as Earthcare Productions, embracing a new identity that underscored our dedication to uncovering and sharing untold, impactful stories that resonate deeply with audiences.
Expanding Services
In 1997, we expanded our service portfolio by launching a dedicated Fixing (Line Production) division, enhancing our versatility and industry reach. Under the leadership of Madhurima, this new arm quickly gained momentum and evolved into one of India’s premier fixing agencies.
Embracing Participatory Video
Krishnendu and Kavita Das Gupta co-founded EarthCare Outreach Trust (ECO), a non-profit dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices. Through participatory video, ECO empowers communities, indigenous groups, and young adults to share their stories, experiences, and perspectives, fostering awareness and advocacy from the ground up.
Global Reach
Earthcare Productions has organically expanded into the global market, broadening its scope to produce films on larger societal themes and venturing into the realm of political documentaries, while continuing to champion impactful storytelling.

Friends of Earthcare Productions
Kavita Dasgupta
Co Founder, Earthcare Outreach Trust
Kavita Dasgupta co-founded Earthcare Outreach Trust (ECO) in 2010, after having joined Earthcare ten years earlier. She developed the participatory video template to reach the remote hinterlands of India. Kavita worked across all three services Earthcare offers, co-directing award-winning films like Dance with Hands Held Tight. She built deep bonds with communities and used her insights to enrich Earthcare and its film projects. She currently resides in Germany, working as a curator and editor at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology.
Dharma Singh
Cinematographer & Independent Filmmaker
Dharma Singh was a die-hard wildlife enthusiast when he joined Earthcare as a young graduate fresh out of media school. He brought his passion to Earthcare, contributing his skilled touch to the films. Dharma was part of many of Earthcare’s adventures—and misadventures—in the Indian forests. He played an integral role in the national award-winning film The Tiger Who Crossed the Line. He now works as an independent filmmaker and resides in Delhi.
Swati Khanna
Filmmaker
Swati Khanna learned the ropes of filmmaking at Earthcare and went on to be part of award-winning films like Missing and 3 Friends in Search of a Forest. She managed significant projects, holding everything together with her gentle touch. Swati cared deeply for the people at Earthcare, infusing the organization with her calmness and mindfulness. She currently resides in Gurugram.
Susmit Sen
Musician
Susmit Sen is a founding member of India’s iconic band, Indian Ocean. He is arguably one of the best guitarists in the country and a talented composer, having played to standing ovations around the world. Susmit brought his unique musical touch to Earthcare as both a musician and a friend. Operating on shoestring budgets, as is often the case for independent documentaries, he created magic while frequently working pro bono. His music added a new layer to the narrative, making it difficult to single out his contributions, leaving an indelible mark long after the film ends.
